Booking a Sky Engineer
Sky engineers carry out a range of work including new installations, equipment upgrades, repairs and dish realignments. To book an engineer visit, call Sky and they will offer you available appointment slots.
Sky typically offers two appointment windows:
- Morning slot: 8am to 1pm
- Afternoon slot: 1pm to 6pm
The engineer will call you on the day of the appointment to confirm they are on their way. Someone aged 18 or over must be present at the property during the visit.
Types of Engineer Visit
- New installation — fitting a satellite dish, running cables and setting up your Sky Q box for the first time
- Equipment upgrade — replacing an old Sky box with Sky Q or upgrading to Sky Glass
- Multi-room setup — installing Sky Q Mini boxes in additional rooms
- Dish realignment — adjusting a dish that has been knocked out of position
- Fault repair — fixing issues with signal, cabling or equipment
- Broadband installation — setting up a new broadband connection or fibre installation
Engineer Visit Costs
Costs vary depending on the work required:
- New customer installation — often included in your setup fee when you join Sky
- Equipment faults — usually covered free of charge if the fault is with Sky's equipment and you are within warranty
- Customer-caused damage — if the fault is caused by damage to equipment or cables, a charge may apply
- Additional work — multi-room setups, extra cable runs or dish relocations are usually chargeable
Ask for a quote when you book so you know the cost upfront.
Preparing for Your Engineer Visit
To help the engineer complete the work efficiently:

- Clear the area around your TV where the Sky box will be installed
- Make sure your TV is accessible and switched on
- Keep pets in a separate room during the visit
- Let the engineer know about any access issues (locked gates, shared driveways etc.)
