We have some wonderful news to share with all Sky Broadband customers! Starting in 2016, Sky Broadband Shield will be automatically switched on the moment a new customer activates their service. This positive change means that from the very first moment you go online, your family will be protected from inappropriate content without you needing to take any extra steps.

This "Default On" approach is designed to ensure a safer internet experience for millions of homes across the UK. By making these protective filters active right from the start, we are helping families create a secure digital environment for their children. While the exact timing for the full rollout will be confirmed next year, the commitment to keeping families safe is already in motion.

Building on Success

This initiative builds on a successful trial earlier this year, where a "Default On" approach for some customers led to much higher engagement and usage of Sky Broadband Shield. It ensures that the excellent filtering systems available are used by everyone who needs them.

Additionally, Sky has been reaching out to existing customers who joined before these filters were available. Since January, emails have been sent to these customers to explain the options and help them get set up with these important safety features.
