Inspiring Young Minds Through Sport and Life Skills

There is wonderful news for schools and young people across the UK and Ireland as the Sky Academy initiative continues to make a fantastic difference. On Monday 9 February 2015, Sky Academy Ambassador Jonny Wilkinson visited Guildford County School to lead an exciting skills session as part of the Sky Sports Living for Sport programme. This initiative is designed to inspire students to achieve their full potential by engaging in practical activities that build confidence and resilience.

During this special visit, which marked Jonny's first appearance in his new Ambassador role, he met with over 30 enthusiastic students who have already benefited from the programme. He was joined by two incredible Athlete Mentors: Rugby World Cup winner Maggie Alphonsi and Steve Brown, the Captain of the GB National Wheelchair Rugby Team. Together, they led a practical "Six Keys to Success" session, focusing on the essential life skills that athletes use to find success both on and off the field.

The students had a brilliant opportunity to hear Jonny share his personal experiences, discussing how the life skills he learned through rugby have supported him throughout his career and in his daily life. This interactive session highlighted how sport can be a powerful tool for developing positive attitudes towards learning and boosting self-esteem.
